Eight games open the 2026 season on Saturday, August 29. Two of them are thirty-point mismatches. Three are inside a touchdown. Below is the whole board — spread, total, kickoff and channel — with no pretence that anyone knows anything yet.
Not posted yet. Every team on this page has played zero games this season. There is no form, no current-year splits, and no injury picture that has survived contact with an opponent — so there is nothing here we could defend if you asked us why.
The pick goes up Saturday morning, once the lines have settled and the lineups are known. If we have nothing worth saying even then, we will say that instead of inventing something.
| Kickoff (CT) | Matchup | Spread | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11:00 AMESPN | North Carolina at TCUAviva Stadium, Dublin | TCU -7.5 | 47.5 |
| The season opens in Ireland at eleven in the morning. Neutral field, jet lag on both sides, and a number that says TCU by a touchdown anyway. | |||
| 2:00 PMNBC | San José State at USC #14LA Memorial Coliseum | USC -38.5 | 60.5 |
| Thirty-eight and a half. The market isn't asking who wins, it's asking whether USC's starters are still on the field in the fourth. | |||
| 2:30 PMESPN | NC State at VirginiaScott Stadium | UVA -5.5 | 53.5 |
| Inside a touchdown, which makes it one of the three games on this board where the number is actually up for debate. | |||
| 4:30 PMCBSSN | Jacksonville State at North Dakota StateFargodome | NDSU -7 | 46.5 |
| Lowest total of the day at 46.5, indoors in Fargo. Weather can't be the excuse here. | |||
| 5:30 PMESPN+ | Sacramento State at Eastern MichiganRynearson Stadium | EMU -10 | 52.5 |
| Ten points is the awkward middle — too many to call it close, too few to call it over. | |||
| 6:00 PMACC Network | Hawai'i at StanfordStanford Stadium | STAN -4 | 48.5 |
| Four points is barely more than a field goal. Hawai'i travels five time zones east, which is the part the number is quietly pricing. | |||
| 6:00 PMCW | New Mexico State at Florida StateDoak Campbell | FSU -30.5 | 52.5 |
| The other thirty-point game. Same question as USC: it's a bet on margin, not on the winner. | |||
| 9:00 PMFOX | Memphis at UNLVAllegiant Stadium | UNLV -4.5 | 56.5 |
| Highest total on the night bar one, closest line on the night bar one. The last game of opening Saturday and probably the best one. | |||
Two of these eight are decided before kickoff and priced that way. The three inside a touchdown — Virginia, Stanford and UNLV — are where an opinion is worth having. That ratio is normal for an opening Saturday and worth remembering before anyone sells you an eight-leg card.
